Yesterday I grabbed some Quiznos to eat at work because it was slow as a zombie and I didn't have time for lunch before. At Quiznos, for some reason known unto no one but God himself, I always get the Kids' Toasty Turkey and Cheese sub. I don't know why either. I think because it's just the right amount of food for me. Anyway, in this kids meal they accidentally gave me two of the toy, which was this crazy mask thing held on your face by a hole where your nose poked through (seen above!).
We had so much fun playing around with these masks at work and such that we decided we had to go eat out somewhere so that we could wear our masks and weird people out. And that was fantastic. It was one of the most fun things I've ever done. It was hilarious to see people give us strange looks, or do double takes, or crack a sudden grin (those were my favorite). It felt good to make people smile, and to finally do something to which society says, "Oh no. Don't do that. That's strange and conspicuous. Heaven forbid you don't blend in with the crowd." We did something for the sake of us wanting to do it because it was fun; it felt like we were breaking the rules of life, and I couldn't have enjoyed it more.
It made me want to do that sort of thing more often. I want to have fun and be spontaneous just for the sake of knowing that I'm enjoying my life, and I'm not held down by the standards and expectations of others. Of course I actually am- who isn't? But at least I can think that I'm having a little more fun than the next person.
And! Betcha never thought the BSG Soundtrack could be THIS good. :P
